Man faces charges over mansion fire

A 31-YEAR-OLD man appeared before Bournemouth magistrates on Saturday accused of arson and criminal damage.

Roy Eveleigh, of no fixed address, faced a charge of damaging the property at St Anthony's Road in Bournemouth by fire, endangering the lives of the occupants, on October 16.

Eveleigh faced a further charge of causing criminal damage to a black Ford Mondeo on the same date.

No bail application was made and Eveleigh was remanded in custody until Friday when he will appear before Bournemouth Crown Court.

The owner of the £1 million mansion and damaged car; Mr Michael Hamilton-Harvey, 76, has been transferred from Royal Bournemouth Hospital to Salisbury District Hospital following the fire where his condition remains "serious, but stable".
