PHIL STONE became the latest player for Lymington and New Milton to find the back of the net, when his brace secured a 2-0 win over Bournemouth Poppies at Fawcetts Field, writes Andy Starmore.
It was a win which also meant that the Linnets maintained their superb 100 per cent home record in all competitions, making it 10 wins out of 10.
For Bournemouth Poppies it was another defeat manager Keith Williams could have done without, but considering the form of both sides going in to this match a two goal defeat wasn't the end of the world, and Williams acknowledged the tremendous form the Linnets are currently producing.
"I've got to say Lymington are a very good side and you've got to give Ian Robinson a lot of credit for that," said Williams.
"We competed well for the first 25 minutes, but I was very disappointed after that, and I thought Kevin Scriven in goal for us was outstanding.
The Linnets have now scored 33 league goals at home in their seven matches, which have all been victories, and the goals are being shared around the team as well.
Paddy James, Ben Thomson, Kevin Reacord and Kevin James have all been finding the back of the net fairly regularly, but this time it was the turn of Stone, who got in front of a defender to stab home Thomson's cross for the first goal five minutes before half time.
Stone was at it again 20 minutes into the second period, when Paddy James raced past three Poppies players down the right flank, before cutting the ball back for Stone to bury an excellently executed shot.
Linnets: Walker-Harris, Hodder, Kenna, Sheppard, P Smith, Thomson (Curtis 75), T Smith, Mulhearn (Reacord 60), Holmes, P.James (K James 60), Stone.
Poppies: Scriven, Crutcher, Bryning, Coleman, Loney, Saadi, Drew, Cuglietta (Williams 65), Clark (Rose 30), Glennister, Town (Till 45).
