Dorset League Division Three

Poole I 1 Bridport I 20

BRIDPORT'S first match of the season was a very one sided affair.

On court at one was Mark Trafford, who found his form early matched against John Hyam.

Trafford had Hyam going all ways as the Poole player tried to get into the match, but Trafford was capable of employing the right shot at the right time to record a resounding 9-4, 9-1, 9-3 victory.

Chris Glover came up against seasoned opponent Graham Batt. His unorthodox style meant Glover had to be on his metal and the Poole man's disguised shots had Glover on the back foot.

It was Glover's determination that saw him through for a good 9-4, 4-9, 9-7, 9-7 win for Bridport.

Simon Wood was in inspired form at number three against Poole's Paul Greeves.

Wood powered through at ease, giving Greeves no opportunity to get into the match, winning by a 9-3, 9-5, 9-1 margin.

Jol Wood was back in the Bridport team after long term injuries and he showed no signs of rustiness in his number four clash with Eddie Brodie.

Every shot Brodie played was counter attacked by Wood's range of shots and positional play, eventually taking a 9-4, 9-1, 9-4 victory.

Nick Neale's positive attitude and determination make him a very good player to have at number five.

He had Poole's Darren Fripp going to all corners of the court as he executed a wide variety of shots.

The pressure was too much for Fripp, who capitulated to hand Neale the win - 9-6, 9-4, 9-7.
