WHAT is culture? That's the question being posed at Bridport's first culture forum next week. People from Bridport - including artists, sportsmen and women, historians, writers and musicians - are being invited to the event at the town's arts centre on Thursday.
The forum is being held to find out what is important to local people and aims to prompt thought and discussion around the idea of What is Culture?
The event will also see the launch of the Bridport Artists Networking Group, which aims to promote the work of artists in the area as well as provide facilities, increase links with other groups and the wider community.
The group will project images on to the exterior walls of the arts centre and adjacent buildings, which will distort the images and create new images of existing work. Open to all, entry to the forum, which starts at 7pm, is free.
Film, speakers and entertainment will be a feature of the evening, which will begin with stilt walkers and street entertainment in the arts centre's courtyard.
Speakers will include Sue Kay from Culture South West, Andrew Dickson and Jim Clarke of Sport England.
Street entertainer Jason Maverick will also perform at the end of the evening.
Meetings of the culture group, which is part of the Bridport Community Initiative, are held regularly and are open to the public. More information can be found at the forum or by calling Clare Glazebrook on 01308 488224.
