Blues cruise
Bridport 53 Poole 0
BRIDPORT got back to winning ways in style at the Brewery Field.
The Blues were quick to open the score with an overhead pass from Jamie Dawe at number 8 in his debut first team appearance.
Scrum half Chris Scadding was the recipient and he duly put the ball down under the posts for Calf Bullock to convert.
From the restart the ball went through three pairs of hands for Robbie Muir to score in the left corner.
Another quick try through prop Dave Blakesley, powering over in the left corner from some straggly play and a Bullock conversion made it 19-0.
Poole seemed to catch their breath and get some organisation in their game to hold the home side for a potion of the half.
But Muir broke this temporary stalemate with a jinking run through several tacklers to score under the posts. Bullock made a similar try to close the first half at 29-0.
Steffan McMasters reopened the Blues scoring early in the second half with a 60 metre run down the right wing over the line. Bullock managed the conversion from wide out.
Bridport's other debutant, centre Owen Spooner was next on the score-sheet with a try after fast interplay among the backs. Bullock again made the extra two points.
Bullock then made a lightning break down the right wing to slip a scoring pass to full back Brett Frampton.
Poole struggled in the hot weather against the greater fitness of the Bridport squad. McMasters had the final word with a speedy run into the right corner. Bullock hit the posts with the final conversion.
