BRIDPORT'S youngsters went into this game as massive underdogs against a Barnstaple side who finished in the top half of Division One last year.
But it was home coach Chris Rook who was looking for answers as Bridport took an early lead an finished the first quarter leading 24-17.
The third quarter was the turning point, Neil Gray came off with a fracture to his heel, and the fitness of the former division one side outpaced Bridport, finishing the quarter leading by six.
Despite a brave battle, the visitors could not match Barnstaple in the last quarter.
Coach Tony Glover said: "None of our players were disgraced, we have definitely gone up in class this year and we coped remarkably well.
"I am sure we have given the Barnstaple coaching team some real food for thought, they were expecting this game to be a formality, and it was everything but."
Notable performances came from Michael Cox, Dan Park, and Tom Glover who scored 60 per cent of the points between them.
