BOURNEMOUTH were given a harsh wake-up call as Maidenhead ruthlessly exposed their frailties in the Southern Premier League.
The newly-promoted outfit went into the game with their confidence sky-high following their opening day win over London Wayfarers, but were blown away as the Berkshire side bagged four goals in the first 20 minutes.
Bourne `keeper Pete Camp admitted the opening startled his side: "We were shell-shocked. We just weren't prepared for the way they came at us from the start."
The hosts were given a glimmer of hope when Tim Stainer made it 4-1 and they started the second half with chances to pull themselves back in contention.
But they were hit by a sucker-punch as Maidenhead notched a fifth before goals from Richard Herring and Stainer gave the final score a respectable look at 5-3.

It was sweet revenge for Woking who were pipped to the title by Bourne last season and acting manager John Kimber was under no illusions as to why they lost. "We didn't take our chances, it's as simple as that."
