CHERRIES crashed out of the LDV Vans Trophy last night and the defeat could have come at a cost.
Sean O'Driscoll's team lost 2-0 to Football League new boys Yeovil Town at Huish Park in the first round.
They saw midfielder Marcus Browning pick up his fifth booking of the season - ruling him out of their Division Two trip to Tranmere on Saturday, November 1.
And striker Derek Holmes, making only his third start of the season, limped off in the second half with a knee injury that could keep him out of Cherries' home league clash against top-of-the-table Brighton at Dean Court on Saturday.
Yeovil won the game with two second half goals from Jake Edwards and Gavin Williams, who netted with a penalty.
Cherries manager Sean O'Driscoll said: "Derek sustained a knee injury and we are not sure what the exact problem is at the moment.
"We will have to see in the morning how his knee is, but it was serious enough for him to have to come off.
"It is too early to say whether he will be fit for the Brighton match or not.
"Marcus also picked up another booking and he will have to miss the match against Tranmere."
O'Driscoll added: "The lads are disappointed because we came here to win it.
"We prepared to win it just as we prepare to win every game. We set out to be hard to beat and I think Yeovil didn't get their first corner until about 10 to 15 minutes into the second half.
"The injury to Derek's knee forced us to revert to three at the back after he had gone off and pack our midfield to try and get more penetration.
"But Yeovil caught us on the break and we were chasing the game from then on.
"Yeovil are a very good side and like I have said before they will lose games in Division Three to teams who boot the ball 30 yards like we did last season.
"They are a footballing side. They didn't surprise me. The best team won."
Yeovil manager Gary Johnson said: "We kept ourselves in the game for the whole 90 minutes and that is important because we had been letting in early goals.
"I felt we were solid at the back, industrious in midfield and dangerous up front.
"I don't think there is anyone who would say we didn't deserve our victory against a very good Bournemouth side."
