CONTROVERSIAL plans for a waste treatment centre in Ferndown come under the spotlight at a county council meeting on Friday.
Members of the public are being invited to attend the Dorset Waste Forum when the first Deposit Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole Waste Local Plan is among items being discussed.
Residents and local councillors are up in arms at the plans for a mechanical biological treatment (MBT) or composting facility on land next to Wimborne Road East and Ferndown Industrial Estate.
The plan also includes proposals for MBTs at Hurn and Winfrith.
Leading member of the Dorset Waste Forum Cllr Gil Streets said: "If we are going to have a country fit for our grandchildren to live in then we need to face up to the waste issues in Dorset, Poole and Bournemouth.
"Over 90 sites have been considered to come up with the list of sites in the plan but we are open to suggestions if there is somewhere that we have missed."
A one-day exhibition was held in Ferndown earlier this month to allow people to look at the plans, but there was widespread anger at the lack of notice given.
A further exhibition has now been arranged for Saturday at the community centre between 10am and 5pm.
