Pupils praised for leprosy charity efforts

From the Echo, first published Wednesday 12th Dec 2001.

PUPILS from Holy Trinity Infants' School in Cross Road, Weymouth, were presented with T-shirts and certificates thanking them for raising £863.99 for the Leprosy Relief Association.

Dorset community fundraiser for the charity Jane Bentley presented the gifts and said the money cured 41 people worldwide of the disease.

The charity provides medical facilities to prevent the spread of leprosy across the world. Headteacher Mark Cheesley praised the children and said the funds were raised through a non-uniform day and a sponsored aerobics session.
