From the Echo, first published Thursday 25th Jan 2001.

OPERA International is back at the Pavilion Theatre in Bournemouth tomorrow (Saturday January 27) with a new traditionally staged production of Puccini's La Boheme.

This lavish new show sung in Italian but with English surtitles by the Chisinau National Opera follows in the footsteps of successful tours of Aida, Tosca and the Marriage of Figaro,

One of the most romantic operas ever composed, La Boheme offers a contrast between high drama and lyricism.

It also contains many famous arias, including Your Tiny Hand Is Frozen.

A classic tale of Parisian love and loss, it offers the story of an enchanting heroine, the delicate, consumptive Mimi and her love for an impoverished artist.

Complete with stars from the famous Moscow Bolshoi Circus, the features international soloists including the wonderful sopranos Oxana Cobzeva and Natalia Yutesh who sang Cio-Cio in last year's tour of Madama Butterfly. While Oleg Kulko the renowned Bolshoi tenor who sang Radames and Cavaradossi at the Royal Albert Hall this Autumn will be singing Rudolfo in this production of La Boheme.
